SITUATE / 21 January to 4 April 2019
Rosie Gunzburg is the recipient of a 2019 studio residency award at the RMIT SITUATE studios in Melbourne.
Rosie Gunzburg’s practice investigates various forms of disruption to traditional gold and silversmithing practices through the use ofmdigital techniques, both material and immaterial. The work seeks to be partly ambiguous, where objects sit at the intersection of themhand-made and digital, or the familiar and foreign. In this, her aim is to find a permeability between the computer and craft, exploiting the complexities and control associated with digital techniques along with the unpredictable material behaviour of certaintraditional craft processes. Rosie’s practice interrogates new technologies as a means of bridging the gap between the physical and digital world.
