Lizzy Simpson is the recipient of the 2018 studio residency award in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This award has been generously supported by Project Eleven.
Lizzy Simpson challenges anthropocentrism; by using diverse materials, living, nonliving, organic, inorganic, in complex participatory installations she permits the viewer to explore their interconnected relationship with things. While completing the Masters of Fine Art at RMIT her enduring interest in natural history, gardening and community catalysed with explorations into ecology, land art and social practices. Resultant award winning works ‘meal’ and ‘you shares me shares…..everything’ aim to subvert the distance between artwork, public and thing.
