SITUATE / 4 May to 14 June 2015
In Art in the Age of Asymmetry, Timothy Morton argues, “that we have entered a new era of aesthetics, shaped by the current ecological emergency.” The New Pangea is an abstract body of work by indigenous artist Jason Baerg that considers a disconnected rapport to the environment as a result of our misdirected desire. The Sky, Animals and Land are processed through technology and are translated as flesh, fauna and playful apparatus. Imbedded in the process are intentions to activate resolutions to the encumbering calamity at hand.
Tomorrow never dies, Linden New Art
Friday 8 May to Sunday 12 July
Opening Thursday 7 May 6-8pm
Tomorrow never dies posits accessible solutions to empower individuals towards collective consciousness within an ever-changing and increasingly damaged planet. It explores societal illusions that the world will always be there when we wake up tomorrow. Works from local, interstate and international artists present diverse responses to changes in the environment that demonstrate the need for urban and global initiatives. Tomorrow never dies is a part of the Art+Climate=Change Festival 2015, managed by Climarte.
