Camila Quintero is the recipient of a 2019 studio residency award at the RMIT SITUATE studios in Melbourne.
Camila Quintero is a Colombian artist currently based in Melbourne. Quintero’s work comprises of a series of nonlinear narratives that examine multiple experiences around romantic connections, exploring the issues that arise when facing the vulnerability of shared intimacy. Camila Quintero explores the fantastic aspect of romantic encounters and the inner anxieties that plague the process of relating with another. These narratives use text, audio, projection, found footage and recorded performative actions to poetically interpret the complex process of finding love.
Quintero studied a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and recently finished her MFA studies at RMIT. Camila has exhibited at First Site Gallery and RMIT’s Spare Room Gallery and was recently awarded the Mary Oliphant Best Tutorial Award for her project Gut Stories.
