Intercambio: 24 Stops is an artistic journey along two train lines—the Upfield line of Melbourne and the Hershey line of Havana, Cuba.
Developed through three investigative residencies in Cuba and lived experience in the Cities of Hume and Moreland, this exhibition showcases a series of reflective drawings and collages with detritus gleaned from the local urban transport environment.
Intercambio: 24 Stops considers the Cuban experience in the light of the changing US Embargo, which was first imposed in the early 1960s. Making, forming and repurposing are all parts of the travellers experience in a context where the past and present negotiate the next stop.
